Jake is one of our Surveyors.
How did you first become involved in land surveying?
A previous job I had, in the finance sector, was coming to an end as the office was relocating to a different part of the UK. A close friend of mine offered me the opportunity to work at his family surveying business that was based just down the road from where I live.
A soon as I started surveying I knew that this was a job I was going to love. The balance of office work and site work is very appealing. Also, the variety of the projects is enjoyable and challenging at the same time.
Why did you join Glanville Geospatial?
Glanville works on a wide variety of projects, and we have the latest equipment. I am supported and encouraged to attend training courses: since I have been here I have learnt a number of new surveying techniques. The company are willing to listen to any new ideas the team may have and are always looking to grow and expand.
What’s the most exciting, or interesting, project you’ve worked on, and why?
My favourite projects have always been the ones that have involved the combination of numerous surveying techniques. It is very satisfying when you deliver a project that includes utility data, point clouds, drone photogrammetry and topography.
What motivates you in your role?
The team I work with are very driven. They motivate me to keep improving. Also, the challenging projects we work on keep me very interested in the work I do.
Where are you hoping your journey with Glanville takes you?
I hope I can continue to learn new surveying techniques from my colleagues and through training courses. I hope I can help the company to continue to grow. As Glanville are keen to invest in the ever-expanding use of technology in the surveying industry, I’m sure we will be successful.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I love all sports and I have played football all my life. I like to go on nature runs, and cook; and I enjoy watching films and TV series.
