Hydrographic training success for Jake and Georgia

Two of our surveyors have extended their repertoire of skills by successfully completing a hydrographic training course.

Jake Smith and Georgia Nicklin undertook the HYPACK Multi-Beam Echo Sounder (MBES) course, held during the last week of September in Hayle, Cornwall. The course was run by Swathe Services in conjunction with HYPACK, one of the world’s most widely used hydrographic surveying software packages.

Georgia and Jake received comprehensive training on equipment installation, calibration, data acquisition and post-processing; along with being trained in using HYPACK for running autonomous surveys. HYSWEEP training was included too, which is the HYPACK module for the collection and processing of multibeam data.

“We have a superb team of surveyors here who are always keen to extend themselves and tackle more challenging projects,” commented Alex Langley, Head of Geospatial Services. “I’m delighted we’ve been able to support Jake and Georgia to help them gain these valuable specialist surveying skills.”

The two surveyors will be putting their skills to good use in the near future, as Glanville Geospatial Services enters the second phase of its work on an extensive hydrographic survey project.
